Handshakes to Heartbreaks

Young love testing its worth
In the fires of the miles of earth
In between young hearts that are so apt to bend
Handshakes to heartbreaks, how quickly to descend

Young dreams out in the world
Growing up too fast for a young boy and girl
In the younger days where life is wild and free
Yet constrained by illusion and young apathy

Young tears fall to join ones before
That have ribboned to form once young stains on the floor
Young conversations that age into fights
Handshakes to heartbreaks in the middle of the night

Young love, tell me what it is worth
When its dying is so close to its birth
Or when young hearts too soon find a way to bend
Handshakes to heartbreaks, let this not be an end
Handshakes to heartbreaks, I still love you, my friend
